Presentation at the JAHSS's Conference in Kobe University Japan

Our founder, Bryan Luk T W CEP, and our Exco Member, Aaron Wong

recently had the opportunity to share and present a conference paper titled "The Thrive of Chinese Transnational Organized Crimes in Southeast Asia under the name of OBORization and the COVID-19 Pandemic" at the 13th Annual Conference of the #JAHSS (Japan Association for Human Security Studies 人間の安全保障学会) at Kobe University Japan.

Our honorary advisor Dr. karl Wilkinson Ph.D., a lecturer from the Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University Japan, has also presented "Reconceptualizing Human Security: A Deviant Perspective from the Jamaican Dancehall" and received the "1st Prize: Best Poster Research Presentation Awards" at the #JAHSS's 2023 Annual Conference.

Our work was categorized under the "Contemporary Issues of Human Security". They discussed the evolution of Chinese-backed organized scam activities in the region, considering the dynamic of OBORization, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing civil war in Myanmar. Finally, they emphasized the importance of further studies from both criminological and IR perspectives to understand the situation better and formulate policies to deal with the problem and prevent it.

The session was chaired by Prof. Go Shimada from the Meiji University and discussed by Prof. Yuichi Sekiya from The University of Tokyo.
