APAC Focus is a program established by IGCS in 2023. IGCS is an independent, Hong Kong-based scholarly platform dedicated to advancing sustainable development and intellectual exchange across the Asia Pacific region.

Our initiative brings together a diverse network of individuals and professionals who share a commitment to the region’s sustainable growth. Our mission is to foster collaboration among people throughout Asia Pacific by providing platforms for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and networking opportunities. By connecting individuals and organizations from various sectors and backgrounds, we aim to promote best practices, drive innovation, and enhance the well-being of both people and the environment in the region.

Through a wide range of programs and initiatives—including conferences, research, and strategic partnerships—APAC Focus actively contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We address pressing challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and biodiversity loss, and regularly participate in and support international forums and academic events. Our research and publications offer insights and recommendations to policymakers, business leaders, and the public, helping inform regional and global sustainability efforts.

Background of IGCS

The IGCS, established by Prof. Luk Yan Lung Michael in 2012, has been in operation for approximately 12 years. As per the IGCS's charter, our objectives encompass the following points:

  • We aim to explore various political, social, economic, cultural, and related public policy issues, with a primary focus on the Greater China region. Our goal is to enhance public awareness, thought, and research on these issues.

  • Our research topics range widely. They include, but are not limited to, China's ongoing reform and vision for the future, the trajectory of Hong Kong's development along with its role and position in China and the Asia-Pacific region, the constructive interaction across the strait and collective progress and cooperation of the four regions on both sides of the strait.

  • Another objective is to establish a broad intellectual network. We endeavor to collaborate with other research and think tank institutions, promote and facilitate related talent development, educational initiatives, and academic exchanges.

Our Direction

As a platform, it is important for us to follow the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because we have the potential to impact society and the environment positively. By aligning our research and development initiatives with the SDGs, we can contribute to solving some of the world's most pressing challenges, such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. By following the SDGs, we can become powerful agents of change and contribute to building a more sustainable future for all.
