Our Program Director, Bryan Luk, has attended and spoke at the “Next Generation Leadership for Family and Business Owners” forum in Tokyo on 6 August 2026 which is organized by our advisor Ms Jennifer Lai, Founder & CEO, ECIS Advisory & Managing Partner of Female Entrepreneurs Worldwide (FEW) - Japan.
Hosted at the International House of Japan, the event brought together business leaders, family-enterprise representatives, investors, and scholars to examine a defining challenge for family businesses: how to preserve legacy while creating new value in an economy shaped by innovation and artificial intelligence.
The discussions highlighted the role of next-generation leaders in navigating this transition. Speakers shared perspectives on entrepreneurship, business renewal, leadership succession, and the implications of AI for family wealth and long-term business strategy. The session on the innovation economy was particularly thought-provoking, with Dr Anas Chalah of Harvard’s John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences addressing the intersection of AI, education, and the future of family wealth.
It was also a valuable opportunity to exchange views with participants from Japan, Hong Kong, and beyond. For APAC Focus, such dialogue is important in strengthening connections across the region and advancing conversations on leadership, innovation, responsible wealth stewardship, and cross-border collaboration.
