Leonard Luk

Co-Program Director (Law & ESG)

Leonard is a highly accomplished practicing solicitor, duly qualified to operate within the esteemed High Court of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR). His area of expertise lies predominantly in the intricate and dynamic capital markets industry, where he has developed a robust practice that encompasses a wide array of legal services. Within this sector, he collaborates extensively with key players such as investment banks, underwriters, investment funds, and publicly listed issuers, providing them with tailored legal advice and strategic guidance to navigate the complexities of financial regulations and compliance requirements. Leonard's adeptness in this field has made him a valuable asset to his clients, as he helps them optimize their operations while mitigating legal risks.


His experience spans Hong Kong, PRC, and US law firms, including Jingtian & Gongcheng LLP, Baker McKenzie, Han Kun Law Offices, and Keith Lam Lau & Chan.  Each of these positions has contributed to his comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in handling complex legal matters related to capital markets.


He began his academic journey at the University of New South Wales where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, International Relations and International Business. This was followed by the Juris Doctor with Distinction, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the City University of Hong Kong. This interdisciplinary background not only equipped him with a solid understanding of the political and economic landscapes that influence legal frameworks.

Established in 2012 by Prof. Luk Yan Lung Michael, the Institute for Greater China Studies (IGCS) has been quietly contributing to the field of scholarly research for approximately 12 years. The IGCS is dedicated to studying a wide range of political, social, economic, cultural, and public policy issues, with a special emphasis on the Greater China region, an important and continually evolving area of study in the contemporary world.
